Interserve wins contract to redevelop Charter Academy in Portsmouth

Published: 19-Mar-2013

Interserve plc, a UK-based construction and support services group, has won a contract from ARK Schools to deliver £8 million ($12.09 million) project to redevelop the Charter Academy in Portsmouth, by building new facilities in its premises.

The project involves construction of a new linked-build teaching block that will accommodate the Charter Academy’s Maths, English and Music teaching curriculum. The new building will also feature a new dining/commons and drama hall.

Additionally, the company will also redevelop an existing four-storied teaching block. Upon completion, the existing congested and crumbling building will be converted into an open-plan, accessible and modern building.

The project also includes construction of a new main entrance to the campus. The project will increase the student accommodation capacity of the school from 600 to 800 students, which will include a 200 pupil sixth form.

The construction on the project is scheduled for completion in August 2014.
