College of William and Mary in Virginia opens Cohen Career Center
Published: 30-Sep-2010
The College of William and Mary (W&M) in Williamsburg, Virginia, has officially unveiled the Sherman and Gloria H. Cohen Career Center, featuring expanded space for workshops, mock interviews, and networking events.
The new home of William and Mary’s career centre, the Sherman and Gloria H. Cohen Career Center, was unveiled on 29 September 2010. The facility will work with students, and alumni, to facilitate their skill development in the overall job search process.
The spacious new glass building spread over 11,000 gross square feet space more than doubles the space, the centre previously occupied in Blow Hall. The building, nestled between Zable Stadium and the Sadler Center, features an open and warm reception area and resource lounge, 80-seat presentation room, offices for professional career counsellors to meet individually with students and a recruitment suit on the second floor that includes fifteen interview rooms.
The $7.9 million project was made possible by a generous $6 million gift by Sherman and Gloria H. Cohen as well as gifts from alumni, parents and employers. Sherman Cohen, a New York City real estate developer, attended the College in 1938.
Mary Schilling, director of the Cohen Center, stated that the new facility will allow broader outreach, expanding services for first and second year students.
